Doug & Mindi’s St. Louis Park, MN Siding and Gutter Project
It was 2004 when Doug and Mindi moved into their St. Louis Park, MN home. The Eliot neighborhood is host to two parks, making it a great place to raise their sons. When they noticed that the pale green siding that had been on their home since well before they purchased it was at the end of its lifespan and they began researching siding contractors to get new siding installed on their single level home.

Choosing the Right Material for their St Louis Park Home Siding Replacement
After considering the siding options we offer, they opted for a combination of materials. On the front of the house, woodgrain embossed steel siding was selected because it provided the look of wood paneling. For the garage and the other three sides of the house, LP® SmartSide® was chosen. This material also made a lot of sense for a 1960’s era home. That’s because it imitates the aesthetics of wood which was often used for siding in that decade. However, unlike wood, LP® SmartSide® utilizes the SmartGuard® fabrication process which protects against fungal decay and termites.
Once material had been decided, Doug and Mindi began evaluating house siding colors. It can be a challenge to choose a hue that’s both trendy and will stand the test of time. Other considerations included the home’s style and age. Furthermore, a savvy homeowner understands that it’s wise to take into consideration the color palette of other neighborhood homes. Rather than forcing our clients to imagine what various siding options could look like, we offer 3D renderings. This technology allows us to show clients what siding options would look like on their actual property.

After taking time to evaluate the seemingly limitless color combinations, Doug and Mindi made their final decisions. For the front of their house, they chose a rich brown for the upper half of the siding. The lower half was brick that had been painted to green to match the home’s previous siding. To provide a more desirable contrast, the brick was painted white. A deep gray LP® SmartSide® called Peppercorn was installed on the garage and the other three sides of the home. Not only do these colors contrast perfectly, they will also stand the test of time.

Eliminating Gutter Cleaning with LeafGuard® Brand Gutters
A desirable feature of Doug and Mindi’s lot is the stately trees that provide ample shade during the summer months. However, once fall approaches, they routinely shower piles of leaves all over the property. Not interested in tackling the dangerous and time-consuming chore of cleaning their gutters, they opted to have us install LeafGuard® Brand Gutters. Backed by the Good Housekeeping Seal, they’re the patented, one-piece system guaranteed never to clog or we clean them for free. As part of this portion of the project, hidden vent soffit and fascia were also installed. This configuration masks conventional perforated vents and filters in more air for enhanced home ventilation.
