Homeowners looking to make home upgrades often have a wish list of enhancements they would like to make.  However, they can easily get overwhelmed when it comes to determining which projects should take priority over others.  In this scenario, partnering with a reputable general contractor can be beneficial.  They can assist in this process to ensure goals, such as enhanced outdoor living space or increased natural light.  With so many homeowners spending unprecedented times at their home due to the pandemic, it’s hardly surprising that upgrades such as home gyms, decking, outdoor kitchens, and water features are high in demand.

Quality contractors can also be an invaluable resource in advising you which materials will have the highest rates of long-term satisfaction.  When it comes to front doors, two of the most popular materials are steel and fiberglass. While the quality of the door is largely dependent on the manufacturer, there are key pieces of information worth knowing about each material. Beware of light fiberglass entry doors, as they can be more difficult to close.  However, they can closely emulate the look of wood without the maintenance.  Steel doors offer enhanced security. They win favor with homeowners because they are resistant to cracking, warping, and fire.  However, they can dent and chip.  If this happens, rusting can ensue.

Just as not all front doors are of the same caliber, the same can hold true for composite decking. While it is not the cheapest product in the marketplace, many deck installers recommend the use of TimberTech®.  Not only is this product aesthetically pleasing, but it stands the test of time. Solid color and woodgrain finishes are both available.  Homeowners in snowy climates can appreciate that TimberTech® is less slippery in the winter than similar products.  It also has fewer expansion and contraction issues.  If you’re needing guidance on the layout of your new deck, reliable decking contractors offer this service free of charge.

GAF, North America’s largest manufacturer of asphalt shingles provides shingles that come with a 50-year, non-prorated warranty that covers both labor and materials, a rarity in the roofing industry.  One of the most eye-catching is known as Glenwood®. Unlike ordinary shingles, they imitate the aesthetics of wood shakes.

Go Behind the Scenes on a Glenwood® Shingle Installation Completed by Our Craftsmen:

While asphalt shingles work well on most types of architecture, metal roofing is a superior choice for story and a half homes that are prone to ice dams.  Because of their knee walls, story and half homes are particularly difficult to insulate.  Applying three inches of spray foam insulation followed by a metal roof, which will shed snow and ice, will work markedly better than asphalt shingles.

Lindus Construction Reviews:

"Thanks to you and your crew for doing a great job!"

"Our house had a split re-roof, part metal and part asphalt and a partial roof extension. Given the fall timing and asphalt (no winter application) and then COVID-19, construction/roofing was not able to start until June. Roofing done in two days and gutters in day and a half. All in all, everything went rather smoothly and results for this old house were exceptional. I would recommend Lindus Construction for all of the above applications - Thanks for a great job!"

"The crew was very prompt and professional. Due to impending rain, a crew of 10-12 came and completed our lake home in one day! My husband was present and I was not. When I arrived, I could not even tell they were there--they had cleaned everything up.  I would hire again."
