John & Colleen’s Minnetonka, MN Kitchen Remodeling Project
At Lindus Construction, we truly treasure the clients that continue to entrust their home improvement projects to our company. To say it’s fulfilling to transform entire homes, would be an understatement. Throughout the years, our team has had the pleasure of working with John and Colleen in Minnetonka, MN on several projects, including SeasonGuard windows and LeafGuard® Gutters.
This time when we met at home had lived in since 1992, it was to discuss updating the kitchen. At that the time, the kitchen and dining room were two distinct spaces, leaving the home feeling compartmentalized. The kitchen walls were covered in wallpaper which had outworn its welcome. Other areas that were in need of an upgrade included the countertops, appliances, flooring, and cabinets. Their wish list also included new additions, such as a range hood, hutch, and backsplash.
With projects as substantial as this one, it’s not uncommon to have varied opinions on the same subject. One Saturday, our construction crews were hard at work and the topic of college football arose. Colleen had our carpenters write their favorite college football team on her white board. Much to her dismay, the word “Badger” appeared more than she would have liked. (“Gopher” wouldn’t have been much better as John and Colleen’s alma mater is the University of Michigan.) Suffice it to say, we still definitely enjoy learning about the passions of our clients and the stories they have to share.
The before and after photos are evidence that this transformation is one of the most dramatic we’ve done. The end result is a more functional and aesthetically pleasing space. In the realm of interior design, yellow is lauded for bringing positive energy to a room. The pale yellow in this room, coupled with white cabinetry make the space appear larger than it already is. These warm, yet subtle colors have a long shelf life when combined. Worth noting is the amount of additional storage space the cabinets and hutch provide. The stainless steel appliances, hardware, and range hood give the room a modern touch. The white granite countertops and backsplash tie in perfectly with the cabinetry. The integration of recessed and pendant lighting also gives the room a brightness it lacked in the past. We also can’t say enough about the beautiful hardwood floors that were chosen. We know it will be enjoyed for years to come and will age beautifully.
John & Colleen, congratulations, on your new kitchen. We know it will be a point of pride in your home and a wonderful place to make memories.
