Deborah’s St. Paul Composite Deck Building Project
There are fewer worse ways to spend a weekend than staining a deck. However, that’s the battle that our client, Deborah, was facing when she reached out to us for a composite decking project. At the time, the deck attached to her Highland area home in St. Paul had warped and discolored boards. The deck had become discolored and was no longer the point of pride it had once been. Loving her previous experience with our company when we installed LeafGuard® Brand Gutters on her home, she decided to reach out for a complimentary estimate for deck construction.
Requirements For Deborah’s New Deck
Her list of priorities included maintenance-free materials, a design like her current one, aesthetically pleasing options, and components that would stand the test of time. Here’s how our deck builders serving St. Paul, MN were able to check off the items on her wish list.
Composite Deck Boards, Bench & Stairs
Deck Boards, Bench, & Stairs: One of features Deborah appreciated about her preexisting deck was the built-in bench. This allowed for ample seating without the clutter of lawn furniture. Durability was a top priority for deck boards, stairs, and the bench, making Zuri® Premium decking a logical choice. It’s manufactured specifically to hold up against scratching, stains, and discoloration from the sun. Deborah experienced the ultimate peace of mind when she learned that Zuri® decking is accompanied with a 25-year Colorfastness warranty. An advantage Zuri® had over her previous deck is that the aesthetics imitate the look of exotic hardwoods and contain nominal grain repletion. Another appealing characteristic of Zuri® decking is that the fastener system is hidden, creating a sleek appearance. Deborah selected the color Brazilia for her project. This rich amber tone was an upgrade from the previous wooden deck’s tired look.
Here’s What You Need to Know About Zuri® Deck Installation:
Deck Drink Rail For Guests:
Deborah’s previous deck had a drink rail which is a flat, wide surface that gives guests a place to set beverages on. This feature was something she deeply desired in her new deck. To accommodate this request, we offered the use of TimberTech AZEK™. This capped PVC decking material provides the aesthetics of natural hardwood and has warranties for fading, staining, and weathering. Brownstone coloring from the Harvest collection was used in order to tie into the home’s siding and provide a contrast to the deck boards and bench.
Maintenance-Free Deck Railing System:
In most cases, we encourage the homeowners we work with to expand their deck railing options beyond the offerings of the deck manufacturer. This allows for a unique look and unparalleled durability. Ultimately, Deborah opted for a Westbury aluminum railing. These low maintenance systems are accompanied with finish warranties to ensure they are enjoyed for years to come.
