When planning a home improvement project, many homeowners are eager to learn about the latest trend before committing to the colors and materials they choose. Here’s a list of the most popular options we’re currently seeing homeowners utilize.
Cabinetry: White cabinets continue to be a highly sought after option in kitchens. This trend started on the east coast and is working its way to the Midwest. This trend is still in its adoption stages here, as natural wood colored cabinets, particularly maple, are still quite popular. In cabin settings, reclaimed wood is attractive for many homeowners. Shaker style cabinets win favor with homeowners because they are easy to clean. They provide an orderly and ageless style.
Countertops: Hands down, the most popular material we’re seeing homeowners choose is quartz. While granite needs to be resealed, quartz does not. Cambria has become a leader in the quartz countertop industry because it comes in over 120 designs, many of them closely imitating the look of real stone. Another advantage quartz countertops hold over granite consistency. Unlike granite where you must select the actual piece of stone you’d like for your project, a quartz sample should be nearly identical to the countertop you have installed.
Stainless Steel Appliances: It’s highly unlikely that the trend will turn away from this anytime soon. However, major manufacturers are making modifications to popular models so that they better ward off fingerprints and smearing.
Decking: Homeowners almost unanimously agree that deck staining is a chore that they never want to tackle again. This has given rise to composite decking materials becoming the most popular choice for busy homeowners. Zuri® Premium Decking by Royal® is a highly sought after option because it has the look of exotic wood without the maintenance. Ultimate peace of mind if offered with the 25-year Color Fastness Warranty which states the deck will not experience a significant color shift due to exposure to ultraviolet radiation from natural sunlight. Flaking, blistering, and peeling are also covered through the same warranty. Metal deck railings are the perfect accompaniment to this decking system.

Color Palette: Hues of gray continue to be a popular neutral that’s a part of many of the remodeling projects we’re working on. Gray is a versatile color that can be incorporated with both bold and muted accent colors. When using gray paint, it’s important to remember that rooms with darker shades require more lighting. Playing with light bulb wattage and color temperature can ensure a lighting concept that makes sense for the space. Sun tunnels can be a great way to incorporate natural light into a space that would not otherwise receive it.
