Upon the passing of their mother, Sandy and her brother inherited her Northeast Minneapolis home in the Waite Park neighborhood. Their intention was to find a purchaser for the property, but they knew that significant improvements would be needed in order for the 1940’s bungalow to attract a buyer. Their list of improvements was substantial. The electrical wasn’t up to code. It needed new insulation and ventilation which was leading to ice dams in frigid Minnesota temperatures. Some of the bricks in the wall of the single stall garage had begun to crumble and the structure was beyond repair. A newer and larger one would be needed to make the home attractive to potential buyers. Another downside to the brick house was that it had four bedrooms but only one bathroom, something that would be a difficult objection to overcome.
Why Lindus Construction Is The Best Minneapolis Company For Home Remodeling
In her own words, Sandy recounts just some of the experiences she has had with our company: “I believe the thing that made my late husband & I first choose Lindus Construction/Midwest LeafGuard®, at least 10 years ago, is that we were helping parents & older relatives who couldn’t/shouldn’t be on ladders any longer have new gutters installed that didn’t need to be cleaned out. So Lindus Construction/Midwest LeafGuard® was the place to start after we had seen/heard about that product. As our projects got going, we learned of other construction that Lindus Construction offered & so we continued with Lindus for our projects. Our projects included new siding, windows, and doors at our home & then branched out to the cabin & now to our mom’s house that my brother & I inherited.”
Experienced Minneapolis Garage Builders
When it came to choosing materials for the project, Sandy appreciated her project manager’s consultative approach. On the garage and dormer, she wanted a low-maintenance material that matched the home’s current brick and stone front. A combination of chocolate colored LP® SmartSide® and bricks from the previous garage were used to side the garage and allow it to complement the home. Brown metal roofing was used on both the dormer and the garage roof in order to provide a unified look. To address the ice dam issue, we utilized spray foam insulation.
Beyond Exterior Renovations: See Our Bathroom Remodeling Capabilities
The new bathroom within the home contained a pedestal sink which worked well because of the minimal floor space it utilized. A walk-in shower was included with custom tile design. White and blue proved to be a winning combination to create a tranquil space.
Sandy’s already planning her next project with us for her cabin and had this to say about the conclusion of these renovations: “Both my brother & I plus our renter, who is interested in purchasing the house now that the renovations are completed, are satisfied with the quality of workmanship. The job site was kept clean & safe which was important since our renter was living there with his dog throughout the whole process. I am very likely to recommend Lindus Construction/Midwest LeafGuard® to others.”
