Kitchen Cabinet Cheat Sheet

Your kitchen is the heart of your home and the cabinets are the glue that hold your kitchen together. With many options to choose from, we’re here to help you ease your search. There are three types of cabinets: stock, semi-custom, and custom. Let’s talk about the differences.

Stock Cabinets

Stock cabinets are exactly that, stock. They are ready-made, pre-manufactured and ready to ship when ordered. If you’re looking for a swift fix to update the allure of your home, stock cabinets are a stylish option that won’t hurt your budget. While a stock cabinet is an uncomplicated fix, it doesn’t leave you with many options. With stock cabinets, you’re limited to colors, styles, shapes, wood types and finishes. Some manufacturers offer up to 10 different options for door styles, colors and wood types but they also have a predetermined number of doors and drawers. A number of stock cabinets are made with lower quality materials and hardware, making them easier to mass produce. A common misconception about stock cabinets is that they’re less expensive than options at a kitchen and bath showroom. In fact, showrooms position choices to offer more range of stock cabinet options because they’re not limited to one or two manufacturers.

Semi-Custom Cabinets

Semi-custom cabinets come in sizes similar to those found in stock cabinets.  However, semi-custom cabinets offer several advantages.  Most notably, cabinets can be combined and specialty finishes can be utilized.  Increasingly popular are distressed finishes which add a rustic touch.  Semi-custom cabinets also offer specialty inserts which allow for better organization.  Like stock cabinets, semi-custom cabinets are accompanied with durable, long-lasting finishes, particularly in painted colors.  Semi-custom cabinets come in at a price point that is palatable to the majority of homeowners looking to do a kitchen overhaul.   kitchen

Custom Cabinets

Custom cabinets are built the way you envision them. By providing a blank canvas, the possibilities of size, wood type, color and finish increase. Custom cabinets are built to order on a project-by-project basis, giving you the ultimate opportunity to build the kitchen you envision. The cabinet finishes and style options are unlimited.  Wood choices are plentiful and include bamboo, zebrawood, and mahogany, giving you tons of options to consider. While there are many benefits to having custom built cabinets, there are some drawbacks as well. Because they’re fitted specifically for you, they’re more labor intensive than stock cabinets and take longer to fabricate.  These factors all add to the final cost.

"I am very happy with my remodeled bathroom...it looks great !!  I always knew what was going to happen ahead of time with great clarity, that took a lot of the normal stress out of it. Also, each tradesman who came to my house told me what and how they were going to do their piece of the project. They all seemed like nice guys and easy to be around! I have in the past and hope to in future to contact Lindus for projects."

This is the 2nd time that we’ve contracted with Lindus and we are very satisfied with their professionalism and their workmanship.  The first contract work that they did for us really transformed our home and we feel the same way about this 2nd project that they've done at our home.  With all of the contracting horror stories out there, Lindus does things right and makes sure that the customer is satisfied."

"We have used Lindus Construction in the past and have always been very pleased with their work. We knew we wanted Lindus when considering a total kitchen remodeling project. Jason was the lead carpenter on the project with his assistant Brock. They repaired a cupboard and drywall that was damaged from too much weight in the cupboard. After our ceiling repair, Jason constructed a soffit for that area that blended in beautifully with the flow of the room and looked like it had always been there. They were also able to adjust the hole in the quartz countertop for the cooktop to fit as it should. They did a great job on the entire remodeling project. We highly recommend Lindus Construction."
