A Word About Storm Damage Restoration

Our team answers homeowner questions every weekend on WCCO 830 AM from 9:00 am-10:00 am.  Have your most pressing home improvement questions answered by calling 651-989-9226 or texting 81807.  Here’s the must-know information our COO, Andy Lindus, shared on 7.20.19.

When our past customers are calling us for storm damage restoration, we’re frequently hearing about the influx of storm chasing contractors that have descended upon their neighborhoods.  This is quite likely because outer states, such as Colorado, have received significantly less hail than in years past.  When encountering this type of individual, forego any temptation to sign a contract with them.  Their contracts often have the homeowner signing a contingency that states that if a homeowner’s insurance company determines storm repair is needed, the homeowner must work with the storm chasing contractor.  When storm damage occurs, the homeowners that have the highest level of happiness with the end result have retained the services of a local,  reputable contractor, that’s able to provide project references from the area.

A storm can provide an opportunity for homeowners to make improvements to their home that increase their personal comfort and their home’s energy efficiency.  One such improvement is a sun tunnel.  A sun tunnel magnifies sunlight through the device’s interior reflective surface.  There is minimal intensity lost as the light is transmitted to the diffuser, producing a soft light into the home.  Sun tunnels work well in areas like bathrooms, hallways, and closets that are often starved of natural light.

This Twin Cities Homeowner Opted to Have a Sun Tunnel Installed After His Roof Was Damaged in a Storm:

Many homeowners with wooden decks damaged by storms, are gravitating towards maintenance-free options, such AZEK®.  One reason this material works so well in the Midwest is that it’s able to expand and contract throughout the seasons.  While many decking manufacturers offer railing systems, many homeowners gravitate towards metal options, such as Westbury aluminum railing systems.  Metal railings systems often wear better than composite options.

When it comes to your home’s siding after a hail storm, a popular choice is LP® SmartSide®.  From an aesthetic standpoint, it does wonders for a home’s curb appeal.  In addition, LP® SmartSide® does not experience the expansion and contraction that steel siding does.  Homeowners that opt for this home siding, appreciate its longevity and durability.  LP® SmartSide® is difficult to scratch and is more impact resistant than many other siding materials.  Prefinished in Diamond Kote®, LP® SmartSide® is protected against ultraviolet rays that cause basic siding to discolor over time.

Why We Outrank Other Storm Restoration Companies:

"After having LeafGuard® gutters installed by Lindus a few years ago we suffered hail damage in 2017 and went to Lindus not only for the gutter replacement but also for the re-roof. While re-roofing they identified and replaced several panels of plywood roof sheathing which over time had de-laminated. Beautiful job, thorough clean-up.  Since we went with LeafGuard®, we have not had any problems with leaves, pine needles and "helicopters" which previously filled and clogged our gutters."

"A few years ago we had Lindus install LeafGuard® gutters. We were happy with the crew and product. After the hail storm last summer, we hired Lindus to replace our roof and gutters. As owners of a historic home, we chose the 50 year GAF shingles. Rick Lindus provided project management and worked diligently at all times to make sure we were completely satisfied - and we are!"

"Had my roof (shingles, soffit, fascia, and gutters) replaced by Lindus two years ago and am very pleased with the quality of their work. When hail came through a year later I called and they came out and did an inspection to make sure everything was OK."

After the hail storm our home needed a new roof and all new siding, window trim...the whole nine yards.  From the salesperson to the crew that was doing the work, all were all wonderful. Answered every question, got the work done on time ( and looks great) cleaned up after every day and when the job was done you would never know that they were there.  I would highly recommend Lindus Construction! We were very pleased with everyone involved with the company that worked with us.
