Storm Damage Restoration Options For Homeowners

Lindus Construction’s COO, Andy Lindus, speaks on how storm damage to your home can often be an opportunity to make improvements at the same time you repair the damage.

Beware of Storm Chasing Contractors

When our past customers are calling us for storm damage restoration, we’re frequently hearing about the influx of storm chasing contractors that have descended upon their neighborhoods.  This is quite likely because outer states, such as Colorado, have received significantly less hail than in years past.  When encountering this type of individual, forego any temptation to sign a contract with them.  Their contracts often have the homeowner signing a contingency that states that if a homeowner’s insurance company determines storm repair is needed, the homeowner must work with the storm chasing contractor.  When storm damage occurs, the homeowners that have the highest level of happiness with the end result have retained the services of a local,  reputable home remodeling contractor that’s able to provide project references from the area.

A storm can provide an opportunity for homeowners to make improvements to their home that increase their personal comfort and their home’s energy efficiency.  One such improvement is a sun tunnel.  A sun tunnel magnifies sunlight through the device’s interior reflective surface.  There is minimal intensity lost as the light is transmitted to the diffuser, producing a soft light into the home.  Sun tunnels work well in areas like bathrooms, hallways, and closets that are often starved of natural light.

An Opportunity To Upgrade Your Deck

Many homeowners with wooden decks damaged by storms, are gravitating towards maintenance-free options, such AZEK®.  One reason this material works so well in the Midwest is that it’s able to expand and contract throughout the seasons.  While many decking manufacturers offer railing systems, many homeowners gravitate towards metal options, such as Westbury aluminum railing systems.  Metal railings systems often wear better than composite options.

Boosting Curb Appeal By Replacing Storm Damaged Siding

When it comes to your home’s siding after a hail storm, a popular choice is LP® SmartSide®.  From an aesthetic standpoint, it does wonders for a home’s curb appeal.  In addition, LP® SmartSide® does not experience the expansion and contraction that steel siding does.  Homeowners that opt for this home siding, appreciate its longevity and durability.  LP® SmartSide® is difficult to scratch and is more impact resistant than many other siding materials.  Prefinished in Diamond Kote®, LP® SmartSide® is protected against ultraviolet rays that cause basic siding to discolor over time.

"We had LeafGuard® put on our house 5 years ago and were totally satisfied with the product. With a large hail storm and damage, we called to have it looked at by our insurance company and Lindus. Brandon Larson, the sales representative was excellent - -we didn't have any questions because he took his time and walked us through the insurance and replacement process. Brandon's presentation and explanations were right on. He and Lindus construction have the best service and products. The LeafGuard® product speaks for itself as it is the highest quality. When we tell people that we have it, they are always impressed and so are we!"

"They replaced our roof following hail damage last summer. Did a wonderful job! Replaced sheathing in an area around the fireplace chimney where we have had a leak for many years and nobody else has been able to find it. Also replaced our soffits with a continuous vent design which hopefully will lessen our ice dam problems in the future. Excellent workmanship all around!"

"Brandon Larson from Lindus came out and inspected my roof only to find it was covered in hail damage and needed to be replaced. He worked directly with my insurance to get it covered 100%.  From a quality perspective, they did a really nice job and did the work quickly to avoid too much disruption to me and my family.  I am pleased with Lindus and would highly recommend them for future projects."
