Even more concerning is the fact that if corners are cut, the result can be premature roof failure which may not be evident until well after the contractor is out of business.
Roofing must also be installed in conjunction with the manufacturer’s specifications in order to be eligible for a warranty claim. When it comes to residential metal roofing, beware of a contractor that suggests installing a new roof over an old one. This approach adds unnecessary stress on your home and may not even be legal in your municipality. Another disadvantage of this approach is that the roof deck cannot be inspected for rot if the previous roof is not removed. Underlayment also cannot be replaced if a roof’s shingles are not removed prior to a new roof being installed.
