Colleen’s Decking & Seamless Gutter Installation Project In Chanhassen, MN
One of the greatest compliments we can receive is when a past customer is so pleased with our previous craftsmanship that they continue to turn to us for future home improvement projects. A few years ago, we first had the pleasure of working with Colleen at her previous home. We’d installed LeafGuard® Brand Gutters in order for her to forego any future gutter maintenance.
Evaluating Homeowner Needs Prior To Starting The Exterior Home Remodel
Last fall, Colleen moved into a new construction home in The Park Villas, one of Chanhassen’s newest premier communities. There were many features to appreciate about her new home including quartz countertops, a gas fireplace with granite surround, and an irrigation sprinkler system. However, two exterior items not included in the builder’s scope of work were gutters and decking. Needing these features added and having the utmost confidence in the craftsmen of Lindus Construction, Colleen turned to our expert team for assistance. Below are the exterior home remodel recommendations we made that Colleen opted to proceed with.
The Exterior Home Renovations Started With Deck Building
Installing Deck Footings
For Colleen’s deck installation project, we recommended the use of helical piers. Helical piers are much quicker to install than hand dug deck footings. To install helical piers, an auger is used. Helical piers also work well in scenarios where the deck footings must be placed close to the home’s foundation.
Steel Deck Railing & Wooden Frame
The majority of decks are constructed with wooden frames. A drawback to this is that lumber is a natural material that is prone to discoloration and warping. To avoid these issues, Colleen, chose to have our deck builders install a steel frame from Fortress®. In addition to its durability, a steel frame also offers aesthetic appeal because of its modern appearance. Also wanting a maintenance-free deck railing, Colleen opted for a steel railing from Fortress®. This provided a look of continuity because the deck and the frame were comprised of the same material. Both Colleen’s deck railing and frame come with robust warranties.
PVC Deck Boards
Wanting a deck that would stand the test of time, Colleen felt confident in her selection of a TimberTech® AZEK deck from the Vintage Collection®. These deck boards are made of capped polymer boards. This is important because they are manufactured without wood fibers. This is critical in a climate in Minnesota where the rampant temperature fluctuations can cause expansion and contraction in wood. TimberTech AZEK® is also manufactured to be resistant to fading, splintering, and scratching. From a beauty standpoint, the PVC decking closely resembles the look of wood without the maintenance.
Concluding The Home Improvement Project With A Seamless Gutters Installation
LeafGuard® Brand Gutters have earned the prestigious Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval. In fact, the Good Housekeeping Institute certified them to handle over 30 inches of rain in an hour. This is achieved through the oversize trough and downspouts. Not to mention, they’re constructed of aluminum 20% thicker than ordinary gutters, making their durability top-tier. Colleen appreciated that LeafGuard® Gutters are custom manufactured in an assortment of colors and designed to fit her home’s exact dimensions.
