Expert Installation & Superior Products=A Winning Combination
Our team answers homeowner questions every weekend on WCCO 830AM from 9:00 am-10:00 am. Have your most pressing home improvement questions answered by calling 651-989-9226 or texting 81807. Here’s the must-know information our COO, Andy Lindus, shared on 9.30.17.
The first caller of the show was Tom from Mounds View. He was in the process of replacing the shingles on his roof and wanted Andy to weigh in on whether it made sense to use open cut or closed valley flashing. Andy’s response was the open cut valley was his preference.
Here’s Why:
Jerry in St. Paul called in because he’d recently cleaned his gutters out and noted that most of the debris insides was dirt and roof granules. He wanted an explanation as to how LeafGuard® Gutters would hold up against these items. Andy informed him that roof granules don’t cause LeafGuard® Gutters to clog because they are installed at the proper slope and have oversize downspouts. This allows them to handle a higher volume of water at a faster pace. LeafGuard® Gutters are accompanied with a lifetime guarantee that protects the current and next homeowner from ever having to clean their gutters. In the event they ever clog, our team will be the ones coming to clean them out free of charge.
A text message came in from a homeowner that had triple pane windows installed last year. They noticed exterior condensation on them in the winter months and were now noticing it on the interior. They asked Andy what he thought the origin of the window condensation was. Andy shared the story of 10-year-old vinyl windows our team upgraded to Infinity® from Marvin. The reason the vinyl windows needed to be replaced so soon was because the window spacers were protruding the glass, causing catastrophic seal failure. Additional reasons that windows experience condensation is because of overly high home humidity levels or air infiltration.
The next caller was pondering the installation of a sun tunnel in her bathroom and wanted to understand if it was a worthwhile investment in the Midwest. Andy highly encouraged the use of the VELUX line. He added, “out of all of the products that I install, I hear more about sun tunnels and skylights and what a difference they make in people’s houses than almost any other product.” Clients have even commented that the installation of a sun tunnel in their home have illuminated rooms so brightly at night that they aren’t forced to turn on lights.
