Chris’ Roseville, MN SeasonGuard Window Project

Pleased with the caliber of work completed by our installation team, Chris began to evaluate other areas of his 1960’s era home in need of enhancements. One of his biggest areas of concern was the home’s windows and patio doors. Points of contention included lackluster energy efficiency, view obstruction, and outdated woodwork. By the time our windows installers completed the project, 20 windows and three patio doors had been replaced. Here are the two rooms that experienced the greatest window transformation:
Living Room
Problem: At our initial visit, the windows that were the focal point of this room were comprised of a combination of fixed non-operating picture windows with small awning windows at the bottom. The biggest drawback to this approach was that the window grids were obstructing the view of the backyard.
Solution: A fixed SeasonGuard picture window provided a more picturesque view of the property’s alluring backyard. Chris made the swap from a wood grain look to white in order to infuse a more modern look to the space.
Dining Room
Problem: Overlooking the pool, the dining room’s windows were a combination of two operating casement windows and fixed, non-operating picture windows. While there was nothing wrong this configuration, it did have room for improvement, in order to provide an unimpeded view of the outdoors.
Solution: The middle window remained a fixed non-operating picture window. This decision was made because having such a sizable window with the ability to open out to such a high traffic area could prove problematic. In order to allow for ventilation, the side windows were updated to double hung. The advantage this style has over the crank out casement windows that they replaced is that double hung windows open top to bottom. This was especially important for windows that open to a deck with substantial foot traffic.
